Website widgets

Adding chat to your website

The chat widget puts a text chat with your agent on your website. Under Widgets, open the Chat tab, create a widget, pick the agent, set the wording and colour, upload the agent's picture if you like, and paste the snippet into your site's HTML.

Visitors see a small launcher in the corner of the page. Pressing it opens a chat box where the agent answers from the same instructions and knowledge base it uses on the phone. Conversations are saved under Chat history.

Tick Allow calls and the launcher becomes a card with the agent's picture, a Start a call button and a chat bubble beside it, and the chat box gains a handset next to Send. Either one starts a voice call with the same agent through the visitor's browser - no phone number involved. While the call is up the button turns red with a timer, and pressing it again hangs up. These calls are saved in Call history as "From website" and billed like phone calls without the phone-line charge.

If you have restricted the widget to certain websites, calls follow the same restriction, and the same limits apply as for the call button: a handful of calls per visitor in a short period, and a few website calls at once per account.
