Adding a call button to your website
The call widget puts a button on your own website. It can dial one of your phone numbers, or put the visitor straight through to your agent from the browser - no phone involved. Either way, you paste one line of HTML once and manage everything else from Vocarium.
To add a browser call button to your site:
- Open Widgets in the dashboard and press New widget.
- Under What the button does, choose Calls your agent from the browser, then pick the agent that should answer.
- Give the button its text ("Talk to us" is the default), choose a pill or a circle, the corner, the position and the colour. The preview shows the button as your visitors will see it.
- Press Save widget, then Copy the snippet and paste it into your website's HTML, anywhere before the closing
</body>tag. Most website builders have a "custom code" or "footer scripts" box for exactly this.
When a visitor presses the button, their browser asks for microphone permission and the agent answers, just as it would on a phone call: the same greeting, voice, instructions, knowledge base and actions. The button turns red with a timer while the call is up, and pressing it again hangs up. Because nothing is dialled, you do not need a phone number for this at all.
Prefer a button that dials? Choose Dials your phone number instead and pick one of your numbers. A tap then opens the phone app on the visitor's device with the number ready, and you can print the number on the button so somebody on a computer can read it.
The snippet never changes once the widget exists, so you can restyle it, swap the number or the agent, or switch between the two modes in Vocarium without touching your website. Tick Hide when the account's balance is low and the button disappears from your site whenever a call would not be answered.
Browser calls from your website appear in Call history as "From website" and are billed like phone calls without the phone-line charge. So that a stranger cannot run up your bill, each visitor can start only a handful of calls in a short period, and only a few website calls can be on the line at once for one account.
