Picking your services

When you create a company, you pick the services you provide from a list — plumbing repairs, drain cleaning, boiler installation, roofing, house cleaning, and so on. You can change the selection at any time under company settings.

It is not a filing decision. The services you pick do three things:

• They tell your agent which calls are yours. An agent that knows the company does drain cleaning and gutter clearing but not electrical work says so plainly to the caller who wants a socket moved, instead of booking a visit nobody can make.
• They are written into the agent's instructions. A newly created agent's prompt says what the business provides in the words a homeowner would use, which is what it answers "what do you actually do" with.
• They tell your agent it is a trade. Picking any service earns the front-desk brief: what to collect on a job, what never to quote, and what to say when a call turns out to be an emergency.

Pick everything you do, not just your main line of work. Two things worth knowing:

• Changing the selection later does not rewrite an agent you already have. The services feed the prompt an agent is created with; after that the instructions are yours to edit. If you add a service and want an existing agent to know about it, edit that agent's instructions.
• A service we retire stays yours. If the catalog stops offering something you had selected, your selection keeps it — it just stops appearing for new companies.
